"Never
doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead
Help support two individuals traveling to Ghana Africa in August 2008 to promote HIV/AIDS prevention, awareness, education, and
empowerment.
The HIV/AIDS epidemic is so prevalent in Africa it accounts for 60% of the world's population of those living with HIV/AIDS
and more than half of these cases are women. Children are the most effected because 85% of all children in the world living
with HIV/AIDS reside in Africa . These numbers will continue to grow due to a lack of resources and education if nothing is
done. We want to change these facts by spreading the truth and not the virus.
Jason Hair-Wynn and Kimberly Andrade who are currently working as professionals in Southeastern Massachusetts in the HIV/AIDS
sector are partnering with Village Volunteers, an international 501c3 Non-profit organization. This organization works in
partnership with rural villages and capacity-building programs to support the development of sustainable solutions for community
survival, education, and growth in Africa and other sections of the world.
Village Volunteers have asked Jason and Kim to develop a curriculum to be used in Ghana, Africa for the purpose of educating
youth about their body in relation to HIV/AIDS, health, and sanitation. This curriculum in which they are currently developing
will be implemented throughout a four week duration in August of 2008 and if successful will be used throughout other regions
in Africa such as Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa.
In order to fund this trip we will be hosting some fun community events and accepting varied gifts and donations from
individuals and corporations. All funds raised will go directly towards the cost of program fees, travel, room and board
as well as educational materials. We are also accepting material donations of crayons, coloring books, first aid kits, bubbles, flash
cards, and hand sanitizer which will be given to the children of Ghana.
Through working together we can continue to build the future of a child, a family, a country, a continent, and eventually
the world. Please support the journey of healing with compassion, crying with strength, educating with minds and loving with
our hearts.
Together we can Spread the Truth and Not the Virus.
